The route begins in Tombstone and travels south toward Bisbee. From there, the trail follows sections of the U.S./Mexico border while incorporating portions of the historic El Camino del Diablo trail. Although this overlanding adventure is rich in history, it does not strictly follow the original historic trail route.
Terrain throughout the journey varies greatly and includes pavement, gravel forest service roads, and the rocky, sandy, rough terrain that the Diablo Trail is known for. This route is designed for adventure-minded travelers who want to experience remote desert landscapes, historic locations, and challenging overland travel conditions.
Must be one or more of the following:
*Veteran or Active Duty Military
*Military Reservist or National Guard
*Law Enforcement
*Firefighter
*EMS
*911 Dispatch
*Homeland Security or Boarder Patrol
This trek features extremely diverse terrain ranging from pavement, maintained gravel roads to rough desert trails with rocky, sandy, and uneven conditions. Participants should be prepared for a wide variety of driving environments and changing trail conditions throughout the adventure. A high-clearance 4x4 vehicle is required for this route.
Most camping during the trek will consist of primitive desert boondocking in remote locations, allowing participants to fully disconnect and experience the solitude and beauty of the Southwest desert.
Each evening, we will gather around the campfire to participate in our Post Traumatic Growth Program discussions. These guided conversations are designed to encourage communication, personal growth, understanding, and deeper connection throughout the journey
